Lisa Puppet Maker

Hello

My name is Lisa. I am the Puppet Maker.

A little about me: I have always loved art. My dream was to paint cells for Disney, but life had a different plan for me. I start out tole painting after my mom signed me up for a Tole Painting workshop. I did not want to go at first but after going the first time I loved it. (Thanks mom for the push). I learned a lot and the instructor was awesome. I enjoyed tole painting so much it became my full time hobby. I spent all my time after work painting and cutting wood. Yes... cutting wood with my own tools. I started to do small craft shows with my tole painting.

Things changed after I had my son. I got in something different; I started a little primitive stitchery. I stitched the patterns on sheets, I tea dyed them and made them into pillows. This was fun.

My boyfriend taught me to knitt. His mom taught me to do a pattern. I tried knitting “I can do squares and squares”. LOL.

After a few ventures my mom got me an order to try to make some felt hand puppets. That is how I met Max and Wendy from Aim Language Learning. Aim is a French program used by schools all over the world. It is an interactive French teaching program. I started making puppets for them and it was awesome. I was getting large orders like 400 puppets at a time. It was great. I now have all rights to make and sell the puppets I made for Aim Language Learning. Meaning you can order them from my website.

I started to get orders for other puppets from teachers and daycare providers. Mary Beth a friend and long time customer has a daycare and has lots of my puppets. The custom orders started to come in from book to TV shows. People were ordering puppets for birthday gifts. Even as goodie bag gifts. Companies started to contact me to make special puppets. I even did a 1000 puppet order of cows for a dairy farm. I now do a few craft shows a year. My favorite being O'Shavings Country Craft Show, Thorold Christmas Art and Craft Show and for the first time this year Made By Hand.

I have been making puppets for 8+ years now. I am hoping to do it for another 8+ years. I still do custom orders so please message me if you have an idea you would like. Yes company’s welcome as well as large orders are welcome. I am looking forward to the future.

As my Nonno would say “Better days are coming”.

A special Thank You to everyone who has helped make this all possible.
